Felt at least 100 degrees and that was before we hit the basement. Saturday, July 26th, 2008. The last show at Rob’s House records. Our friend Trey the man who started it all is off to New York. Who better to give him a send off than the Black Lips.
I have to say everyone who was invited and that knew about it did a damn good job keeping it under their hats. There was about a hundred kids there. I was expecting six times that. With two kegs a beer in the backyard and a few bottles of bug spray floating around I was ready for business.
It was disgusting out. I got bit ten times at least. Loaded up a few cups of beer and hit the basement. I hung in the corner with my man Marlow Sanchez who was recording the show for a future release. He was smart and brought a fan. Even with the fan, I’d say it was about 130 degrees down there.
Predator was up first. My first time seeing them. They were great. Then Gentleman Jesse and His Men and then the Carbonas. These bands are always great. Carbonas sounded especially fantastic. I was soaking wet. Went upstairs. Got a little dry air from outside and a few more bug bites. Refilled some beers and back downstairs for the main event. Black Lips were great. Opened up with “Bad Kids.” Love that song and love these kids. I’ve know them for long time now and they are just doin’ it. They ended their set with fire works. This is in a basement that has a five foot ceiling and a dirt floor. Hot and smoky, like I said it was disgusting.
A good time was had. We did some interviews and got wrecked. Here you go.

i wanna eat fireworks and trim a stash at the same time
