Stubb In The Club
Drinks with Peter Stubb

I had a fantastic time doing this and hope you enjoy it. I’ve been a fan of Peter Stubb for a minute now but I never thought we would do an interview. He was very talkative and very sweet. A true Southern gentleman.

Dry Ink sits down and drinks with the legendary Peter Stubb from Dalton, Georgia. He has put out over 100 tapes since 1992 about demons, wolves, Christmas, suicide, pussy and food. We drank Pabst Blue Ribbon, some whiskey and later sangria and talk women, food, songs and mental institutions.

Dry Ink: How are you feeling?

Peter Stubb: I feel alright I guess. I’m a little nervous about playing. I probably shouldn’t be drinking but it makes me feel better. Can I get another beer?

DI: Sure thing. What songs are you going to do tonight?

PS: I don’t know. I brought my book of lyrics with me. I forget the words so I need them in front of me. I will be playing 2 sets. The first set will have some personal songs, some old songs about suicide that I wrote a long time ago. The second set is for the ladies. That is my sexy set, pussy songs. I go on at 10:30 so don’t miss it and I have tapes for sale.

DI: I just wanted to tell you that some of your songs have made me cry. They make me happy and sad.

PS: Which ones?

DI: The song “Memories Hurt” really messes me up. Can you tell me a little about that?

PS: The song is what it says man, memories do hurt, I feel it all the time and it makes me cry and I feel everybody hurts when they think about things. I just like to write about it, that’s it.

DI: And your pussy songs make me laugh and put a smile on my face.

PS: That’s it man, I like to write songs about pussy and stuff. It’ fun and fun to sing. I have a song called “Roller Girl” that I wrote for the girl in Boogie Nights and I like to sing that one. I think I might sing that tonight. They lyrics go “open up you legs and let me eat some cottage cheese.”

DI: That’s a good one. And who is Darlene? You sing about her a lot.

PS: I spent some time with this girl in a mental institution and Darlene is her mother and I guess I just got obsessed, I guess. I made 8 tapes about Darlene. My son helped with the art work on the tape covers. It’s a bunch of porn pictures. Darlene is an 84. That’s the number code for the name Darlene, it’s 84.

DI: I’ve been meaning to ask you this for a while. What is your obsession with hot dogs? You have a tattoo of a hot dog and chili dog on your face.

PS: I just love hot dogs. I  love eating them. I once tried to change my name to Hot Dog. I used to have my friends call me Hot Dog Joe. A Chili Dog is a number 34 too. That’s why I have the number 34 tattooed on my cheek. If you go to any ball park in the United States and ask for a 34 they will give you a chili dog because c is the third letter and d is the fourth letter in the alphabet.

DI: Wow, I am speechless. Seriously, that just blew me away.

PS: I thought everyone knew that. What are you drinking?

DI: I am drinking sangria. Do you want to try some?

PS: Man, I can’t drink them fruity drinks. I stick with beer and whiskey man. Well, what does it taste like?

DI: It’s just good and fruity. Here, try some.

PS: Man, that is good. Will you buy me one?

DI: Yes, of course. You seem really talkative today. I am very happy about that. Are you in a happy place these days.

PS: Yes I am. I feel happy. I’ve been a mental institution, a few times. I’ve been suicidal but not for a while. They got me on some good medication right now. Will you keep buying me sangria?

DI: Yeah, it’s good . You should write a song about it. You used to write a lot of songs about food but never about drinks. You should do that.

PS: Spell it for me and I’ll write a song about it. I used to write a lot of songs about food. I have one called “Sloppy Joe” that I think I might play tonight.

DI: What music are you listening to these days?

PS: I don’t like punk. I like love songs and pop songs. I listen to pop punk. Me and my son listen to Blink 182. I like that song “Love in The Club” by Usher. I think I might cover it. I will listen to anything as long as it has a melody.

DI: Why do you always wear sleeveless shirts?

PS: You would wear them too if you had big arms like mine. I work out and love body building so I want to show them off to the ladies.

DI: Do you have a girl in your life right now?

PS: Nah, I haven’t had a girlfriend since 2004. I’m single but I really want to find someone who will just love me for me. I had a girl offer me money the other night to have sex with her. She just wanted to tell people that she slept with Peter Stubb, but I couldn’t do it. She was drunk and I didn’t want to take advantage of her.

DI: She just wanted a rub from the Stubb.

PS: Ha ha, I like that.

DI: Well, is there anything else you want to tell people?

PS: Buy my tapes. I want to start playing out more so look out for that. I have a new record coming out in September and thanks. I’m gonna need to go back in the mental institution after this weekend, just kidding.

DI: Thank you Stubb. Thank you.
