Sick Figures sound like an old man band, and I myself think that’s a good thing. They’re a cross between The Doors and Ethel Merman. Their songs tell stories, and sound better than most anything that is out there at the moment. More
I love this man. I don’t say that about many men. I have known him for over 10 years now and I have never heard a negative word spill from his mouth. He is a positive force and has a gigantic heart. The minutes I get to spend with him when he passes through town are sacred. We drank Pabst Blue Ribbon and sipped on Jameson. A good time was had. More
Editor’s note: He said he was going to do this, a “Drinks With” interview with himself, but none of us believed him. This, in my opinion, is funny and sad. But mostly sad.
Dry Ink: Thank you for doing this. Please introduce yourself.
Tom Cheshire: You got it, my name is Tom Cheshire. I am a soul singer. More
An interview for the big boys. I met this man in 1998 I think, Leatherface was on tour with Hot Water Music, I had already been a great fan of Leatherface for six or seven years, I met Frankie back stage and we hit it off from straight the start. More
Jesse Smith has been playing on the Atlanta punk scene for quite some time now. I met him over 10 years ago when he was playing in a band called Some Soviet Station. They later evolved into Paper Lions. Both were great bands. These days Jesse juggles his time playing bass in The Carbonas and singing some great pop tunes under the name Gentleman Jesse. I caught up with him at a tiki party in East Atlanta on a hot June afternoon. He was wearing tight jeans and a fedora. We drank pineapple-soaked vodka, threw horseshoes and talked music. Here we go… More
Motor 76 are five thick guys, one of them plays hockey, another is a butcher. The singer has a tattoo of a panda on his back and the guitarist has a Swedish name and a 14-inch tongue. These guys stink of meat and beer. More
If you don’t know this man or his band by now you have problems. His songs are anthems for folks 15-50 years of age. And Flogging Molly is the hardest working band out there. This band is real. More
On Saturday, April 7, I got together with Trey Lindsay and Travis Flagel of Rob’s House Records at their home in East Atlanta. There was a rock show going on. It was 22 degrees out. We drank PBR from a keg outside and stood around a campfire. I took sips from an old bottle of Bushmills. It helped out a bit and made my heart warm. More
Four guys got together on a Tuesday night in a place where they had no business being: my kitchen. So I decided to record the conversation. Joining me in what began as a “Drinks With Gary Lindsey of Ass Jack” was Chris Jackson, Brent Hinds of Mastodon and Gary. My woman was not very happy about this. It got quite loud. More
