A Very Special Charlie Brown Christmas
By Tom Cheshire
Published Dec. 3, 2009
TT Mahony and Jeffrey Butzer are like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey hangin’ with the seven dwarfs in an ice cream parlor. I heard this said backstage at a Jeffrey Butzer show a few months back. That excited me very much and I can’t wait for this thing. We caught up with The Butz recently to talk to him about his Charlie Brown Christmas. Whitney and Mariah doing Charlie Brown, nice. This is gonna be a good night. More
Foxhunt descends on the ATL from the hills of Appalachia
By Kelsey Wilson
Published Dec. 3, 2009
I first saw The Fox Hunt (John Miller, Matt Metz, Matt Klein, and Ben Townshend) at a show we played together in NYC last year. Not exactly what I would have expected on a bill with a bunch of rock and punk bands, these dudes gathered around one microphone with nary a drum or amp between them and delivered a set of old-timey string music that, to me, stole the show. I first met Nick DuPey at The Chattanooga Fest a number of years ago. His band Giant Tiger was playing. They were fantastic. He is a handsome man, a great front man and just an overall sweetheart. Since then, we’ve played several shows together and destroyed quite a few brain cells.
Nick has put music full time on a hiatus and has been spending time on his new business Young Monster. He was kind enough to let us know a bit about it. More
A conversation with Marianne Dissard

Marianne Dissard is a very skilled lyricist, singer and filmmaker. She was born in France but has lived in Tucson, Ariz. for many a year. She is about to set sail across Europe and the US of A to support her splendid new album titled “L’entredeux” produced and co-written with Calexico’s Joey Burns. Miss Dissard was kind enough to answer some of my hard hitting questions regarding music and film. More
An interview with Wes Duvall
By Tom Cheshire
Published Oct. 7. 2009
Wes Duvall is an artist based out of Brooklyn who is originally from Atlanta. We met at a hardcore show in the West End section of the ATL in the late 90’s. He was wearing pleated shorts and high top Ponys. My sweatpants were pleated and were tight at the bottom. We got drunk on wine coolers and played dominoes. He is an amazing person and artist and a lot of fun at parties. I spoke with Wes recently and did a brief Q&A with him about his upcoming show “Eve of Destruction” in Brooklyn. More
An interview with Small Reactions
By Jeffrey Butzer
Published Sept. 22, 2009
Small Reactions play art punk ala Television/Wire without ever coming across as pretentious, and write extremely catchy pop songs without ever sounding square. Normally, bands described as “fun” are either debaucherous or a bunch of dorks, but these guys are neither. They play with un-jaded enthusiasm and handle their instruments like gentlemen. And fairly new to the Atlanta scene they are already in high demand. More
A Phone Conversation between Jeffrey Bützer and Claire Lodge about their new CD “Carousel Girl”
By Jeffrey Bützer
Published Aug. 15, 2009
Claire Lodge is an adorable guitarist who spends her time in London and Atlanta. That is about all I can tell you because she seems to be a mystery to most folks. I have heard stories of her popping up on stage and playing unannounced from time to time but most scheduled shows she winds up canceling. A friend of mine said he saw her pumping gas into an old Volvo on Ponce. More
